At CARD (Center for Agriculture and Rural Development), we believe that agriculture is not just a livelihood—it's a way of life. In the heart of Boudh, Odisha, where generations of farmers have tilled the land with hope and resilience, we stand shoulder to shoulder with them to promote sustainable agricultural growth, food security, and rural prosperity.

Why Agricultural Development Matters in Boudh

Boudh, with its rich natural resources and agrarian roots, holds immense potential for agricultural advancement. Yet, the region's farmers face numerous challenges: erratic rainfall, limited access to modern technology, lack of irrigation, poor soil health, and inadequate market linkages.

Many are small and marginal farmers, dependent on traditional practices and vulnerable to climate change, crop failures, and debt cycles. CARD is committed to transforming this reality—by empowering farmers with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive.

At CARD, our agricultural development initiatives are designed to address the entire farming ecosystem—from soil to market. Our work is grounded in community participation, ecological sustainability, and economic empowerment.

Sustainable Farming Practices

We train farmers in eco-friendly methods such as:

  • Organic farming
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
  • Natural composting and vermiculture

Capacity Building & Farmer Training

Through farmer field schools, demonstration plots, and hands-on workshops, we provide:

  • Organizing farmer producer groups (FPOs)
  • Guidance on climate-resilient agriculture
  • Financial literacy and farm management skills

Irrigation & Water Resource Management

We support the construction and rehabilitation of:

  • Community ponds and check dams
  • Low-cost drip and sprinkler irrigation systems
  • Rainwater harvesting structures

Seed Banks and Agri Inputs

We support community-managed seed banks and provide access to:

  • Quality seeds and planting materials
  • Bio-fertilizers and organic pesticides
  • Farm tools and machinery on a shared basis
